The
mission of San Bernardino is to produce genuine and natural products, with no preservatives, no dyes or chemical enhancers of flavors.
Vegetable Garden
The garden products are always the foundation of a healthy and balanced diet.
In our tradition the garden with its fragrant and delicious vegetables, had a key role as a source of some staple foods for own consumption.
Over the centuries, it was so important and vital that
laws prohibited the payment of tax on its production.
The garden is a mirror of the soul of those who cultivate it, and it can be read as an interior space and as an expression of imagination and creativity.
It is said that beauty of a garden
lies in the fact that the is is never without fruit, even in late autumn and winter, even when the days are short, often foggy and rainy.
In the garden of San Bernardino you can find many different species and varieties that differ in form, color and size, but always seasonal vegetables, fresh, with irreplaceable tastes and organically produced.
Legumes & Cereals
The varieties of legumes we grow are old and most local, and some such as the Fagiolo dall'Occhio, the Coco and the Toscanello are still cultivated with manual work, especially during the harvest.
Of these beans stands out the uniqueness of a very thin skin, but that takes a very good cook and a so
marked taste that the best way to eat is, in our opinion, boiled and seasoned with our olive oil, salt and just a little bit of pepper.
We cultivate also
Ceci and
Lenticchie.
