The land owned by Family Palmerini-Pietrelli is fit to grow the precious BLACK TRUFFLE.
Growing truffles is the aspiration of the family Palmerini-Pietrelli, which in recent years is investing in truffle reserves and cultivation,
aware that the first results will be not before the next two decades.
Two plots have been already suited to the growth of truffles; mycorrhizated plants of the most suitable for the growth of fine black truffles have been planted.
We are planning new cultivation of fineblack truffles
What is a CULTIVATED TRUFFLE RESERVE
A cultivated truffle reserve consists of the creation of ex-novo plants that are realized planting mycorrhizated plants and then subjected to the same treatment of natural truffle reserves.
Characteristics of a cultivated truffle reserve
The success of a truffle cultivation depends on the characteristics of the ground and the quality
of the mycorrhization.
The density of plants, hydration and aeration are also very important.
FINE BLACK TRUFFLE (Tuber melanosporum Vittadini)
Its size ranges from a walnut to a large orange, in exceptional cases even exceed the pounds of weight while its shape is almost round.
The smell is pleasant, delicate, aromatic and the flavor is excellent.
Unlike the fine white truffle that has to be eaten raw, the fine black truffle keeps the smell and taste after cooking.
Fine black truffles can be easily identified because their presence is indicated by an area at the base of the tree without grass and shrubs, as opposed to the fine white truffle, whose identification is a matter solely for the dog.
